Subject: Sapphire Edge, +1

So i took advantage of the Sapphire Edge for Sony Vegas Pro, November deal with discount.
This is nice. Working with v10 and v11. After a trial period they sent me an email asking if I would like to buy it. Well normally adverts like that turn me off instantly. But the discount was too good to refuse really.
These effects look great, although it seems only some of the effects are GPU assisted and the others not. But still, i would put this next to Magic Bullet. And in some cases this is actually better. The GUI is nicer too and responds quicker. I particularly like the damaged film looks, very cool. The package comes with a years subscription to their looks libraray, that in itself would cost $99. Package deal was $149 total. Thats about 」100 here in the uk. Very good value.
All in all, this is a great package. Just wanting to share that. Try a demo if you havent already, good alternative to MB in my opinion.

And of course this is by GenArts. Forgot to mantion that.

Do you have a link to this deal? I don't see it on their site.

After the initial trial period, they emailed me the link. And that took me straight to a BUY it page.
its here:
https://www.genarts.com/buy?license[]=40&product=34&platform=1431

It seems like you have to Login to use the shopping cart. So you probably need to create an account, then add to cart.

At the checkout, use code EDGE1_NOVTRIAL
The discount is valid until the end of the year.

But the trial is free of course, so anyone can check it out with spending anything, then you would receive the email too.

And if you just want the trial and demos, its here:
Trial and Demos here

Quite a nice little review of it here (shown as FCP but it looks the same in Vegas)

That link takes me to the regular price of $299. Maybe it was a Cyber Monday deal or something.

The discount shows in the checkout, once you have applied the code.

OK, I got it. I had to go through checkout and apply the code. Haven't tried it yet but the Youtube demos look outstanding. This looks like a really great deal. Thanks! Now that I have a powerful PC and graphics card, I can use all these fun toys!

Great! I was playing with it last night for the first time really and was blown away by some of the effects, and the transitions are very nice too. Once of the best things for me is - its quick previewing presets, rapid selection using your cursor keys, you can't do that with MB.
Enjoy.

The lens flare transition in particular got me. Yeah it's a bit of a cliche, but for my ad work I will use it a lot.

I agree, +1 from me, too.

A lot of well done effects with good presets, so I don't have to flounder around trying to get a particular look.

Their transitions are really superb!

I have selected my favorites and assigned them as presets in Vegas.

Very satisfied with Sapphire Edge

I love it as well. BUT. I apply a film style to the timeline and after a while on playback the audio goes out of sync. I also notice this when you turn on external monitor preview. Give it a try and let me know if others see this as well. Genarts even can reproduce this. Not on render the audio loses sync. Just on timeline. It is obviously important to be able to view the style and film look to your video before you render. Also if no problems what videocard do you have. Thanx.

I haven't seen this problem with SE on my Vegas 11 64 bit. I have a Nvidia GTX 560TI.

What specific effect are you using, and what is your source media (AVCHD, etc.)? I will try to duplicate,

Same here, just getting into this plugin but not seeing any lip sync issues yet.
Tried about 2 minutes, is that long enough?

I do see some kind of sync issue if the frame rate drops below full, for example if i try to push the preview to BEST. Then i see issues, but thats normal for any plugin i think.
Its working great, full frame rate preview using "Preview Half" here. And it still looks good enough for editing and grading. Also tried external monitor too, its the same.
GTX570.

Paul,
Thanks for the information. I'm going to download the trial. I've been checking out the YouTube vids for this software recently, so this is good timing. Can't wait to check it out and maybe purchase.

Yes about 2 minutes is def enough. The files were hdv files. I am using the 560t i nvidia as well on a dell xps machine. Raid drives and i7 intel with 12 gigs ram.
Hmmm. At a loss for words here. When I turn on external monitor while playing it goes out of sync asap.
Genarts said it was a probalem with vegas how it looks at the plugin. When I use new blue film looks no problem on sync. Strange. Thank you for the search on this guys. Still at a loss. : )

I did a webinar for Saphire Edge that was a while back when they first released, and you can see it on vimeo here:

I like them, and particularly the lens flares and TV damage effects are quite powerful.

Very nice tutorial Dave, thanks for posting.
Also wanted to mention with this deal you get the update library "FX Central" for 1 year, for free. I just downloaded the past few months of looks and there are really some brilliant looks and styles included. Thought that was worth a mention.
