Kidneythieves
Founded in 1998, Kidneythieves burst onto the industrial and alternative rock scenes with a meticulously-crafted, yet raw and aggressive sound. Fronted by Free Dominguez on vocals, Bruce Somers on guitars and engineering, and supporting musicians, the band quickly built a following and carved a solid niche in this burgeoning genre.

That same year the band released their first album Trickster which included the single "S+M (A Love Song)." This was followed with the EP Phi in the Sky in 2001, and their second full album Zerospace in 2002 (which contained the video and popular single, "Zerospace"). The band placed music in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, and subsequently released Trickster as Tricksterreprocess in 2004, a collection of remastered and bonus tracks and a bonus DVD.
"Our music is about empowerment and taking the fight to where it matters and having some fun in the process" said Free. "We don't preach, we don't lecture, we've just been there and speak from experience."

Free and Bruce pursued alternative projects shortly after the release of Tricksterreprocess. In 2007 they regrouped and began working on new material, which resulted in 2010's Trypt0fanatic. The success of Trypt0fanatic has Free and Bruce back in the studio, working on new music.
Kidneythieves are now solely Bruce Somers, Free Dominguez, and an extensive arsenal of production gear, including Sony applications and content.
SONY: Kidneythieves have been using Sony applications for a long time. Can you give us an overview of what you're using?
Bruce Somers: We use Vegas Pro 10 extensively for all of the band's video production, including live performances and scripted productions. We use Sound Forge 10 for all of our mix-down to a separate PC, and for all of our two-track editing. ACID Pro 7 and a large collection of Sony sample libraries handle all of our looping and assorted production needs. We still rely on the old XFX collections to create ambience in our music. Finally, we use CD Architect 5.2 to compile our song order and burn our masters.
SONY: Our applications play an important part throughout your production and delivery. Why is that?
Bruce Somers: Sony applications are very easy to use, and the output is always high quality. Vegas Pro is the fastest video editor by far, and it's the only one that allows BPM (beats per minute) so we can actually do our video editing on a grid. This makes things very easy to edit and upload for our fans.
SONY: Any applications you particularly rely on?
Bruce Somers: Most artists talk about putting a song order together - Sony's CD Architect 5.2 makes this very easy, and we use it for all of our finished CDs. We can preview the tail of each song and how it goes into the next song, which is important for deciding the flow and order of our diSony. CD Architect makes this very easy as well by making it easy to change the song order and burn CDs with cross-fades and other mastering effects. This lets us put together a close-to-finished product for management and us to review.
We also love using Vegas Pro 10 for editing videos. For audio people, Vegas Pro is amazing because of how quickly we can edit our projects. Being able to edit clips using the same track and just drag them over each other to automatically make them cross-fade saves us a tone of time. Amazing, Sony. Thank you!
Simply stated, Sony applications allow Kidneythieves to put together our music and multimedia projects in an incredibly easy and intuitive way.

From the start, Kidneythieves' sound has been smart, emotional, and cutting-edge. By relying on Sony, Bruce and Free were able to spend less time on technical issues and more time creating. Minimize the distance between ideation and realization; maximize creation.
