Easy does it As an editor using Vegas since version 5 several years ago, I had to download the trial version of movieEZ to give it a try, as I have a sister who is just getting into computers and she is interested in making some simple movies. The product makes it just about as easy to make a movie as I can imagine and gives you control to make straight forward transitions and even automates bringing stills alive. Granted it is very limited as to what you can do relating to in depth tweaking and extreme special effects, but those things aren't needed to simply crank out a video for the family, as it's the content and story that really matters. You really can't go wrong by just downloading the trial version and giving it a test drive. February 24, 2012
Does what I need it to do I am a Vegas Pro user who was looking for something fast, easy, and a bit more on the flashy side to put together slideshows for clients. This program did the trick nicely, it is almost too easy to put together a slideshow in a hurry. I was a bit frustrated by the lack of more advanced options for video encoding (especially being a Vegas Pro user), but it spits out passable quality for web and home DVD/Bluray. February 24, 2012
Good start but in need of improvements Long story short: nice product, but i'd like it to be a "real" entry-level Vegas. I use the entire line-up of Vegas products for my job, on a daily basis. It's my bread and butter. I tried this one out of curiosity, thinking about a low end version of Vegas. Probably it will eventually be, as much as there is (was?) a "for kids" version of ACID. MoviEZ reminds me a similar software I once had on my cellphone, and it's probably more than a coincidence. It's a nice piece of software that does exactly what is expected, but every user with a little experience with probably want something more quite soon. My suggestion is to integrate moviEZ with the rest of the Vegas family: it's interface lacks the family feeling, just a change in the color scheme will be fine. I'd like to use movieEZ to set up a quick, short movie out of random clips (a kind of work that I'm asked to do more and more often, and to be fair, moviEZ scored a couple fo hits here), but a feature to export its movies into a simple .VF project would be a lot appreciated, so I could use it for further editing: it's, actually, difficult to trim a movie exactly the way I want, and the lowest Vegas Studio HD does a lot more for just some extra money, so why not having the best of both worlds? My suggestion: try this if you are new to video editing or you just need a fast way to get somthing out of your footage, but be prepared that you may want something more powerful as soon as your expectations grow. Moviez HD Performance Have used this software for nearly three weeks and have been driven mad by the instability of the Caption Feature. The video & audio aspects are reasonable but the caption feature is dreadful, one can set a caption(s) in a certain part of a video frame or still frame and it is pure luck if you see it again. At the save video and burn stage it has either moved out of position, sometimes to a position where only half the caption remains or it has completely disappeared. I have yet to burn a DVD (out of at least 50 attempts) which represents the preview stage. This software requires a thorough rewrite in respect of the caption and scene modes. Have tried many variations of saving the captions, have even removed and reloaded the software to no avail. I am requesting the return of my money as it is not fit for purpose! December 1, 2011
