Sound Forge and Vegas Make an Epic Impact

David Filskov has spent over a third of his life working with audio projects, and he's only 31. After years of working as a freelancer on recording projects, video games, animations, and films, Filskov and colleagues Simon Ravn and Asbjoern Andersen founded Epic Sound. Epic Sound offers a range of audio services to their clients, including original music, sound design, voice acting, and localization. They have provided audio for such brands as Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Fox Kids, Pfizer, LEGO, and many more. Their work is featured in film and video.

With their efficient and intuitive user-interfaces, Vegas and Sound Forge have really sped up
our workflow.

Recently, Filskov and his partners were brought on to create the voices, sound effects, and soundscapes for the latest entry, "Agent Hugo", in a popular video game series that has sold more than 8 million copies. "We faced recording, editing, and processing a ten thousand-word script," says Filskov, "with 16 characters per language and 13 languages; it would be fair to say that we had a lot of dialogue editing on our hands." Vegas 6 made its debut just as the boys at Epic began to tackle the "Agent Hugo" project. Two features new to Vegas 6 made their jobs much easier. "The ripple-editing modes made it easy for us to insert and remove sections while retaining the positions
of existing markers, automation and takes in the rest of the project set-up," raves Filskov. "Another great addition was scripting, which allowed us to easily create a custom script that could be used to automatically label all the markers and even render and crop each voice sample with the correct sample rate and file them. That saved us many, many hours of fiddling!" Vegas and Sound Forge were used throughout the project, from vocal recording, editing and processing the vocal content, creating sound effects, to editing and mastering the music featured in the game. Filskov and company took the project a step further and created audio for the television and internet commercials that announced the game's debut.

We use Vegas and Sound Forge software throughout our production chain, from the very first recordings to finalizing the product for
