Ted Perlman

Ted Perlman has been a well-known figure in the music industry for years. He has worked as a producer, an arranger, a programmer, an engineer, and a musician with the biggest names in the business. Recently, his work on Burt Bacharach's "At This Time" helped secure the "Best Pop Instrumental Album of the Year" Grammy^® for the CD. "It's a fantastic CD, and I'm proud to have been a part of it!" raves Perlman.

"It started about a year and a half ago. Dr. Dre gave Burt all these drum loops, Burt gave me the loops, and we started working on it. Burt started writing songs around the loop, which was pretty cool, then it worked its way up from there." Perlman used ACID Pro software to clean up and augment the beats from Dr. Dre. "A lot of times I'll just go into ACID and set the tempo. I start adding bass things and looking for weird little effects. I have the entire Sony Sound Series collection." The resulting album includes performances by Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright, Chris Botti, and Perlman himself. "It's very, very cool, very wide as far as styles go. Burt wrote lyrics on this record, which is the first time he's ever done that. He's like a kid, man; he's as excited working now as he was when he was starting out."

If you wanted two programs from Sony Creative Software and you just had ACID Pro and Sound Forge software, that's all you'd need.
