.MXF problem
Hi I previously used Sony Vegas Pro 9.c without any problems.. and was thinking of moving onto the Vegas platform from Adobe, BUT after trying out Vegas 11 I found it to have a problem loading .MXF into the software, the same files work fine on 9.c..I do large projects with 600 - 2000 files at a time.. although some load up.. after about 1000 files it hits a brick wall and crashes... The files are from a Sony PDW-335L ... I transfer the files to computer via PDZ-1 software then injest into vegas...would love to use this product but its just too buggy to use when you rely on it on a professional basis.

Version 11 is full of bugs
I like the software but since the update to version 11 , the software is full of bugs. Sony should post a solution immediately as there are many issues, especially with titles. No matter how powerful is your graphic card or your processor, it is a software issue, and for the price paid we hope for a solution. It would be an excellent product, especially for stereoscopic editing, if it worked.....

Great features but dramatical instability!!!
I had to change my NLE software from excellent Adobe Premiere Pro to Vegas Pro 11 because I had to make stereoscopic project : three approx. 8-9 min films with Dolby 5.1 sound shooteed by excellent Panasonic Z 10000 3D camera. Vegas has really excellent features (e.g. for stereoscopic editing - really very handy, intuitive, Dolby 5.1 editing - bravo!!!) and many many more very good features. Programme is very easy to use - I could start fluent editing after a few hours after switching from Adobe. But .. these crashes!!!!!! Every 5 minutes !!!!! It was the most horrible experience within my whole NLE editing expierence. It reminded me years 90s when I started editing on Pentium 100 computers. Editing on Vegas took me probably 5 to 10 times time than it should. Additionally - fatal playback!!!. Why there are so many options - from Best full to Preview Quarter if at each option playback is always jerky and you can't watch even a few seconds of your movie!!?? Changing from Preview Quarter into Half and opposite after each playback helped a little in "smooth" playback but after a few playbacks it became jerky again. I can't imagine editing a long movie on that software!!! Additionally - many crashes during rendering - you leave computer for render, coming back and.... nothing - everything stops, you lost the following hour. Additionaly - that programme has very poor and unintuitive help - instead I had to use Google or Youtube where I could always find answers for my questions.
I want to ask why Sony wasted such a good product making it so unstable? I want to note that I tried this software at 3 different computers (like i7, 8 to 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA and so on) and everywere the instability was the same.

Excellent Video Editing Software of the World
Hello, My name is Faisal, I'm from Pakistan.
According to me Vegas is the most powerful video editing software, I like it very much, I want to say "THANKS" for making a excellent software...
I'm using Apple Final Cut Pro X (10) on my mac, and Avid Media Composer 6, Edius, and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Magix Video Pro X4 on this pc,
but I like Vegas then others..., I can't tell you, "why?"
because I can buy it in affordable price and everything is in Vegas what I want to use. It has 60% Adobe After Effects approximately.
I recommend you to use this product, you'll be happy after getting the precious effects and more functions...

Far better than movie maker but effects and transitions need to be improved
I have used movie maker (xp) version for years. After I kept crashing movie maker due to xp's memory limitation, I upgraded my pc's hardware and my OS to window's 7. Unfortunately movie maker for windows 7 is horrible. I discovered Sony Vegas. It is good and relatively easy to use but I find that the number of transitions and effects is lacking compared to what I could get for free or purchase at much cheaper prices than I can get for Vegas. The Sony Vegas program itself is great and has much better features, performance, and stability compared to my movie maker xp version especially the 64-bit version. The program itself is 5 stars. Sony just needs to really increase the number of the effects/transitions and they have a 5 star product.
The price for the professional version is a bit steep but after using Vegas it is worth it compared to movie maker. Sony should consider giving its non-professional version owners a bigger discount for upgrading to the professional version.
One other thing to consider. I have a Sony HDR-1 video camera with the .mks extension video format. The nice thing about using Sony Vegas is that I know the program will be compatible with this .mks video format. That in itself is extremely handy as I use to have to convert my video from the .mks of Sony to .wmv (Window's video format) and then import into movie maker. Now I can record right on my HDR-1 video camera and take the video right into Vegas for editing.

ease of use/fast and gets the job done
Ive been using Vegas pro for a good few years now from 8 and upwards right through to 11,i also use 2 other very well known and respected NLEs A/Pp both of these don't come close to what Vegas can,no waiting for it convert my rushes into a format it can use,Vegas can handle just about anything you throw at,granted it has some niggles now and then but just about every piece of software on the market does,i don't really use the 3d stuff, but on a day today use i go to Vegas every time its fast and gets the job done,i know that some say they have had problems with pro11 but i cant say ive had any at all and im using 64 bit version which has been pretty stable, for me at least.all i can say is jump in.

VEGAS PRO -- A WASTE OF MONEY
Vegas Pro--Save your money. It is one of the most poorly designed non linear video editing systems on the market. As a rule of thumb: Newer editing systems by johnny-come-lately firms have way more problems than the Older established editing systems, because the companies that came out with the system first usually got the patent and the copyright on the software that goes directly to the task. The newer systems by newer companies have to solve the same problems in a much less direct way-- in my opinion, this leads to problems that aren't worth solving. I would say Final Cut Pro (it's worth getting a Mac for) or if you really have money, Avid (built on a Mac). Don't waste your time with Vegas Pro.
Dear Sony,
You make great cameras, stay away from
editing.

Program crashing
I am very disappointed with the new Vegas pro 11. I was looking forward to start using it with the NewBlueFx titler. And I also like the new render section with it's userfrendly interface. But so far I have only experienced problems and frustrations with this program. Very unstable editing and almost guarantied to crash during rendering. I regret buying it, and I'm now back to using the pro 10 version. I hope Sony can come up with a solution and compensate those who spent money on this program. It looked promising, but no cigar.
