Barton's single "On the Beach" is at #9 with a bullet! Anthony writes, "I used Sony Sound forge to do the mastering. What made this job unique was that the single included various remix versions done by different people such as Anton Bass, Craig C, Alex Santer, and Hybrid Heights. "My job was to make sure that there was continuity across all the versions without losing the remixers' individual sonic visions. I also had to make sure that these tracks translated onto different mediums for playback. These mixes were going to be released on CD, sent to several digital delivery companies for downloading and had to sound great live in a dance club setting. "I used Sound Forge's metering to zero in on the level and make sure I was getting a loud enough mix without hurting the overall sound quality." You can check out that sound quality yourself by catching a bit of Barton's "On the Beach at: http://bit.ly/barton_itunes_on_the_beach. That soundtrack has been remastered and released in a deluxe vinyl box set by White Dog Music. Producer Bob Ferbache describes the remastering process using Sony Creative Software products: "Here's the path I took for the Lucifer Rising box set; first, I digitized the original tapes. The transfer was tape deck to Rosetta200 A/D to Sony Sound Forge at 96/24. The first process was to de-hiss using the Sound Forge Noise Reduction plug-in. On two of the tracks I created a noiseprint for noise reduction. Then each track was EQ'd to taste with VST plug SSL oxford console EQ , and any problem areas were notched EQ using VST plug UAD Cambridge (very precise). "For the room ambiance Acoustic Mirror™ was used as per Bobby's (Beausoleil, composer and performer) direction. This is one of his favorite programs and was used extensively in the process. "The last phase was to master with the VST plugs UAD precision series (multiband, EQ, limiter). "All the resampling and bit depth converting was done for the various formats 48/24video 48/16film 44.1/16cd, mp3, aiff ect in Sound Forge. I used 48/24 for LP. That's a basic overview of the project - thanks! Big Bad Bob."
