"Space precludes a full consideration of all the new features, but, for me at least, the headline offering – full CD production without leaving Sound Forge 10 – makes this a very worthwhile upgrade on its own." – John Walden for Sound on Sound ![]()

![]() Long-lost recordings from The Orkustra have been released by White Dog Music on a beautiful two LP set. All tracks remastered in Sound Forge Pro. Check it out here. Pitchfork gives it at 7! ![]() Byron Sellers is a song writer and producer who works with people like Carlos Bedoya (Beyonce, Mary J, Wheezer), Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins, Matchbox 20) and many other A-list producers. His most recent project is Dyemi; an artist-meets-producer combination that has grabbed international attention at a very rapid rate. Byron writes, "I have been using Acid since version 3.0, and with the Dyemi project, I am using it live. I started doing remixes on ACIDplanet when it first launched, and I have found ACID to be the most user-friendly software I have worked with in music. The simple interface is perfect for learning how to navigate in recording. Editing is the one thing I dread most, but in ACID I can fly through editing and looping without problem. For the live shows, ACID is great because I can tempo change where needed; I know the levels I'm seeing are precise, and I can see the show in front of me, so making changes on the fly is very easy. With Dyemi 80% of the show is in ACID so I run my stereo mix as a track then run my click on another for the drummer. A decent computer and a 4 channel soundcard and wow!!! What a no-hassle way to run a tracked artist. Look out for my remix of Dyemi's "Addict" on ACIDplanet soon. |
It's kind of funny...I started out on ACIDplanet.com doing remixes and now I am getting remixed. Follow your dreams and bring a copy of Acid with you." Working with Regions Lists, Playlists, and Cutlists in Sound Forge Pro ![]() You probably already know that Sound Forge Pro software can be used for an amazing variety of audio tasks. Everything from recording to mastering to creating your final files and CDs (and just about everything in between) can be done in this versatile application. But have you ever used the application to quickly create and test out alternate arrangements of your audio files? Whether you're working with music, spoken word, ambience, or any other type of audio file, you can make use of a few powerful techniques to quickly test your arrangement ideas. For instance, let's say you're getting ready to do a multitrack recording of a song in ACID Pro software, but you're not quite sure of the arrangement that you want to go with. You'd like to try some different arrangement ideas. You wonder what the song would sound like starting off with two verses then a chorus as opposed to an intro section, then a chorus, and then two verses. But to find out, you'll have to record the song once for every possible arrangement you want to test, right? Not right, because you have Sound Forge Pro to make the job much easier! In this article, we'll take a look at how you can use the Sound Forge Pro Regions List and Playlist/Cutlist windows to quickly create and evaluate alternate arrangements. Let's follow along with the scenario I outlined above. We want to test different arrangement ideas of a song we plan to record as a multitrack project in ACID Pro software. I'll show you how I'd approach this task and along the way you'll learn the techniques you can use to customize my procedure or develop a completely different one of your own.
